Here are a few more small paintings that I finished this week.

I had a few old frames that had been sitting in the corner of my studio for some time.  They are perfect for displaying these pieces.  I can play around with the arrangement of the frames and switch out the paintings from time to time.

Time to get back to that messy desk.  I'm working on a very special, secret project.  So exciting!
More about that later.

Have a great weekend!

A few days ago, my mother-in-law gave me a few Christmas cards and postcards that she never used. Since I like to make my own cards, I decided to recycle the ones that she gave me and do some small paintings.  I am really happy with the finished pieces.

I really enjoy doing these small paintings.  I even have a few coaster paintings available in my Etsy shop.  Painting small can be a challenge and, it can take some time to get it just right. The woman with the rose took almost 2 hours to complete.  Oh well, you can't rush the process.
Do you ever paint small?  What do enjoy most about working on a smaller canvas?

Have a fabulous day!

Look at the flowers, look at them growing,
They never worry, they never work.
Look at the way our Father clothes them,
Each with beauty all its own
Each with beauty all its own

Bloom, bloom, bloom where you're planted.
You will find your way.
Bloom, bloom, bloom where you're planted.
You will have your day.

Look at the love that lies deep within in,
Let yourself be!  Let yourself be!
Look at the gifts that you have been given.
Let them go free!  Let them go free!
Let them go free!  Let them go free!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I've been out of the studio for the last couple of days so, I was really excited to dig into my paints today.   On Monday, I finally received my Flow magazine.  It came late as it was delivered to our old address.  This months publication included a paper packet filled with the most beautiful prints so, I decided to work with paper today.
I chose this lovely floral print to work with.

I definitely wanted to be sure to have the print stand out in my painting.  I decided to block out a border and have it serve as a frame.

I love her fiery red hair!

I've noticed that in many of my recent paintings, a pathway seems to show up.   I'm not sure what that means.  Maybe its a representation of this art journey that I'm on.  I don't know, but, I'm not trying to figure it out.  I'll keep going with the flow and let my paintings tell the story.

Have a fabulous day.

Here is my latest mixed media painting.  I call her "The Dancer"

This piece is painted on an old canvas.  There is a lot of texture peeking through from the old painting and I love it!  I also love the hints of color in her white dress.  The roses were painted early as part of the second or third layer of paint.  I really like how organic they are so, I decided to leave them.

Believe it or not, I was once a member of a dance group.  About 15 years ago I attended a church that  had a praise dance ministry.  The ministry included women and men. We also had a children's ministry as well.  I served as one of the choreographers for the group. We danced ballet, modern dance  and even a bit of hip hop. Yes, I said hip hop!

For many of our performances, we would often wear a white dress similar to the one worn by my dancer. It was long and flowing and had a ruffle on the bottom.  This painting brings back many great memories for me and it makes me happy.  I don't dance in the praise dance ministry anymore but, I do take a lot of dance breaks here in the studio.  Dance helps to keep the brain and the body active and vital.  It's also a great stress reliever.  So, the next time you need a break, feel stressed or, you just want to let loose and have fun, I hope you dance.

Have a great week!
