INSPIRED BY LANSCAPES

I haven't always been a nature lover.  However, when I moved to Germany almost 9 years ago, I feel immediately in love with the landscapes here.  Germany has so much green space, even in the cities.   My husband and I went to Bayern over the summer to hike.  We hiked up three mountains, something I never imagined myself doing!  The views were amazing and I was inspired!

This past year I've noticed that along with tea cups, landscapes have become an integral part of my work. Because my paintings are created intuitively, I never really paid attention to how often landscapes appear in my work.

"Hedge Of Protection"
"Homeward Bound"

"Sitting With The Moon"

"The Garden Of Phenomenal Women"

This is my most recent painting featuring landscapes.  It's called "Balance".

I spent last week just  focusing on landscapes.  I would like to try to interpret them using other mediums besides paint.  These two painting studies are still in the experimental stages but, I really like where they are going.  I've been playing around with fabric, paper, found materials and of course, glitter.

I've also been playing around in my sketchbook with some ideas which I will bring to canvas one I feel more comfortable with my process.  I'm really excited about what could be a new direction for me.  I can already imagine a series of these sweet little paintings.

Have a wonderful day,

Sharon

THE POWER OF ART

I am so grateful for art.  Sometimes, it's really hard to voice what I am feeling.  With everything that is going on in the world, art has proven to be the perfect outlet.  In the past couple of weeks I have had feelings of despair, frustration, anger and loss.   I am wondering where is the love.  At times it just begins to be too much.  I was able to work out some of what I've been feeling on this piece which I have entitled "I Shall Not Be Moved".  I painted it on a large sheet of packing paper.

I don't understand why there has to be so much hate.  I don't understand why it is so hard for us to learn to live together and respect one another.

Now is not the time to be silent.  We all have to stand up and do what's right.  Think about the children, think about the earth that we all call home. I'm still feeling frustrated and angry but, at least I can channel all of that into my art.  I'll let it speak and hopefully people will start to listen and begin to come together to build a better world for us all.

LOVE AND TEA CUPS

I was looking through some of my paintings this morning and I noticed something. I really love tea cups! The tea cup made it's appearance as a subject and theme in my artwork a few years ago when I was working in watercolor.  Every now and then, one will show up in my work.  Here are a few of my paintings featuring this beloved vessel.

BOHEMIAN TEA PARTY
IT'S TEA TIME DARLING

THE ARRIVAL OF SPRING

PEARLS DINER

THE DRESSMAKER

THE GARDEN OF PHENOMENAL WOMEN

Here I am with two of my latest paintings.  They are my Tea Babies and I love them!

I'm sure I will continue to feature tea cups in my art.  Tea cups are a part of my everyday life and my art reflects those things that are near and dear to me.  Have you noticed any recurring themes in your work?  I'd love to hear about it.

Make it a great week,
Sharon
